A prima ballerina's entrance and a tribute to the genius of Leonardo da Vinci: Fragments of Tigran Jager's neo-symphonies accompanied the fashion show

Updated: Feb 10

A dynamic flow of neo-symphony fragments and neoclassical compositions by Tigran Jager accompanied the show of the themed collection "Renaissance. Leonardo da Vinci" by designer Ekaterina RinaR (Przeberala), featuring the prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater. The show took place on June 26, 2022, during the main part of Moscow Fashion Week.

The show took place on one of Moscow's key catwalks – a hall within the historical, cultural, and vibrant landscape of Zaryadye Park in the heart of Moscow.

The designer's collection, inspired by the European Early Renaissance and dedicated to the 570th anniversary of the Italian-French genius, became one of the highlights of Fashion Week. Above all, it was distinguished by its unity of concept: the concept, the images, the visual sequences of the video installations, and, finally, the unique original music—all were dedicated to the mastery of Leonardo da Vinci and the spirit of his era. Moreover, the show was the only one at this major event dedicated to the historical and cultural aspects of fashion and the art of modern dress.

This cultural manifesto and vibrant team of authors attracted the attention of major media outlets.

Ballet, watches and a royal dress

The Bolshoi Theatre prima ballerina and film actress Evgenia Obraztsova opened the show, appearing to the opening notes of Tigran Jager's seminal neo-symphony dedicated to Leonardo da Vinci's genius, "Human Time." This piece captures the passage of time, the ticking of clock hands, morphing into a symphonic flow, and the colossal impression of the moment's importance and revelation, reaching from the depths of time into our present and uncharted future. Wearing a tutu from the designer's collection, the dancer emerged from the darkness under the rays of ultramarine spotlights, against the backdrop of a video installation of an ancient fantasy clock framed by the columns of the italian Basilica di Santa Maria Novella. She performed a short but captivating classical dance.

The famous singer and actress closed the show, appearing in a red "royal" dress and a crown made of Murano glass from the Enzo Benzo workshop.

About the designer and the idea

EKaterina RinaR is a designer brand based on European standards, conceptual design based on the study of art from different eras and cultures, and a deeply scientific approach. The designer received a French education at the world's leading fashion school, the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. She studied with outstanding teachers at the Stroganov Academy of Fine Arts.

The "Leonardo da Vinci" collection was previously shown on February 28 in France at "Paris Fashion Week 2022 February Flying Solo."

The Proto-Renaissance, to which the collection traces its roots, combines Byzantine, Romanesque, and Gothic traditions. During the Renaissance, artists extracted paints from natural sources, with blue, yellow, white, brown, black, green, and gray being the primary hues. Architecture underwent changes: Gothic, triangular, and square forms gave way to rational, order-based constructions of columns, pilasters, arches, and arcades.

The color palette, proportions, and form of the "Leonardo da Vinci" collection convey a sense of the richness, luxury, and beauty of this great era. This is achieved through unusual combinations of colors, materials, and accessories. For example, exclusive design solutions include twisting yarns of different colors in knitwear to create a unique shade and reflect the architectural forms of the Proto-Renaissance. Furthermore, the fabric cut incorporates Shihgo Sato's origami technique. The jewellery series, developed in collaboration with Enzo Benzo, features Murano glass elements and beads.
