Tigran Jager became a laureate of the International Competition of Composers and Arrangers named after I.O. Dunaevsky

Updated: 7 days ago

Tigran Jager (Dzhagharyan) won the choral composition award and a special diploma for achievements in media music at the I.O. Dunaevsky International Composers and Arrangers Competition. He presented the symphonic choral diptych "Leonardo da Vinci's Renaissance Code: "Human Time" and "Ultima Cena."

The event was organized by the International Vocal Center (IVC) "Solveig" at the Moscow House of Composers. A gala concert of some of the works and an awards ceremony for the winners took place on November 22, 2025, in the Great Hall of the Moscow House of Composers.

The creative competition is distinguished from similar competitions by its democratic approach, allowing participation by both professional composers and those without formal compositional training, as well as young talents. Among the academic composers are Iraida Salnikova from Novosibirsk, a proponent of the canons of the Russian classical school and Orthodox themes in music, with her light and music performance "The Last Tsar"; Ekaterina Karpenko from Moscow with her ballet "The Master and Margarita"; and Sergei Chechetko, accompanist at the Moscow Musical Theatre "Helikon Opera," with her children's opera "Fedorino Gore."

Authors without specialized training and amateurs surprised the audience with their solutions and the level of their essays: in addition to Tigran Dzhagharyan (Jager), who works with museum spaces and fashion shows, Zhanna Vereninova, a professor at the Maurice Thorez Moscow State Linguistic University (Institute of Foreign Languages), a social media star with her teaching of correct British pronunciation, presented her work.

The competition's Honorary President has been People's Artist of Russia Maxim Dunaevsky, son of Soviet composer Isaak Dunaevsky and author of the legendary scores for "D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers" and 90 other famous Soviet and Russian films. The founder, director, and producer is Radomira Krasavina, artistic director of the Solveig Music Center and lecturer in the musical theater department at the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts (GITIS). This year, the jury is chaired by composer and professor at the Moscow Conservatory Alexander Tchaikovsky. The jury also includes Ekaterina Chernousova, composer and soloist who has performed with Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli, as well as the heads and members of the Composers' Unions of Russia and Moscow.

The Isaak Dunaevsky International Composers and Arrangers Competition has been held since 2012. Its goal is to identify and support talented composers and arrangers, create new repertoire for performers and musical groups, and preserve and enhance musical traditions.
