A specially prepared half-hour series of themed musical compositions by Tigran Jager (Dzhagarian) filled the space of the first regional exhibition of Russian Space Week, which opened on April 1, 2026, with the participation of Roscosmos. The exhibition "Space Between Us" will run all month, until the end of April, at the Zheleznogorsk Museum of Local History in Kursk Oblast.
The composer's music about space and humanity will help visitors immerse themselves in the images of the created art space.
The exhibition is timed to coincide with two key events: Cosmonautics Day (April 12) and the 65th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's legendary flight. This special project was created by the Art, Science, and Sport Foundation, represented by Svetlana Bortnikova, in collaboration with the Roscosmos State Corporation.
The project is part of Svetlana's series of activities aimed at popularizing space, building on her long-standing collaboration with the Roscosmos State Corporation and expanding access to knowledge about this field for everyone, including those with visual impairments.
Tigran Jager has also repeatedly accompanied events dedicated to space exploration with his works: from the closing of the Starmus International Festival in Yerevan in 2022 to accompanying Roscosmos videos featuring famous artists in 2025.
The "Space Between Us" exhibition is part of the "Space Week" campaign, which runs from April 6 to 12, 2026, in the Russian Federation. However, it will not be limited to these dates—the 65th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's spaceflight will be the theme for the entire year. In the future, Space Week will be an annual national event in Russia, organized by Roscosmos.
Declassified archives, photos from the ISS, and designer dolls
The exhibition promises to be a true journey into orbit. Its centerpiece is a collection of over 20 unique photographs taken by Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Ivan Vagner from the International Space Station (ISS). Visitors will see how, through the cosmonauts' lenses, the night lights of megacities, the intricate patterns of the continents, and the fragile blue atmosphere are transformed into high art born at an altitude of 400 kilometers.
Of particular interest to residents of Zheleznogorsk is the participation in the project of their fellow countryman, Alexander Gorbunov, a native of the area, whose works also take pride of place in the exhibition.
The art space isn't limited to photographs. For the first time, museum guests are presented with copies of archival documents previously classified as "Top Secret" from the Russian State Archive of Scientific and Technical Documentation. Visitors will see the Vostok spacecraft manual, a transcript of Gagarin's conversation with Mission Control, a historical drawing of the first cosmonaut suit, and much more.
Interactive elements were also featured: using a QR code, visitors can view video footage of a rocket launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome, explore the ISS, and learn how to maintain physical fitness in zero gravity.
The artistic portion of the exhibition featured extraordinary hand-crafted dolls by 23 artists, crafted using a variety of techniques and materials, including porcelain, papier-mâché, textiles, felt, and plastic. Among the works are an image of a cosmonaut in outer space, characters from the animated film "The Mystery of the Third Planet," and a doll dedicated to actress Yulia Peresild, the sixth woman in the history of the USSR and Russia to travel to space. All exhibits are unique and one-of-a-kind.
The dolls were provided by artists from the "EpiCenter of Dolls" creative association with the support of the Artistic Dolls section of the Creative Union of Artists of Decorative and Applied Arts.
